Your Crown Journey at Pro-Dental Care

Getting a crown usually involves two primary visits to our office. We strive to make the process as smooth and comfortable as possible.

First Visit: The Prep Work

We will examine the tooth closely and take the necessary X-rays (or perhaps a CBCT scan if needed).
To fit the crown properly, Dr. Azizi needs to reshape the tooth slightly. Don't worry; the area will be completely numb, so you won't feel discomfort. We need to create enough space for the crown material.
We take an impression of the prepared tooth and the surrounding teeth. This instructs the dental lab on creating your crown, ensuring it fits perfectly.
We will place a temporary crown to keep it safe and comfortable while your permanent one is expertly crafted.

Second Visit: Your New Crown

You'll come back in once your custom crown is back from the lab. We'll gently remove the temporary one and clean the tooth underneath.
Dr. Azizi will carefully place your new crown, checking everything – how it fits against other teeth, how your bite feels, and whether the color matches. We will tweak it until it's just right.
We use strong dental cement to bond the crown securely to your tooth.

Dental Crown Materials:

Crowns are not one-size-fits-all when it comes to materials. We offer several great options and will help you decide:

Porcelain and Ceramic: These crowns offer the most natural appearance, matching the color and translucency of surrounding teeth. They are an excellent choice for front teeth.
Metal Alloys (including Gold): Metal crowns withstand biting and chewing forces very well and are rarely prone to chipping or breaking. They are often used for less visible back teeth.
Porcelain-Fused-to-Metal (PFM): Hybrid – a metal base that provides strength, with porcelain applied to the outside for a natural appearance.

How to Protect Your Crown

Maintain Oral Hygiene: Brush your teeth twice daily and don't skip flossing. Pay extra attention to the edge where the crown meets your gum.

Avoid Chewing Hard Objects: Chewing ice, super-hard candies, or using your teeth as tools is a no-no.

Payments: We take cash, checks, money orders, and major credit cards. Payment is typically due upon receipt of the service. If you're considering a more comprehensive treatment plan, let's discuss it – we can often work out arrangements.
Insurance: We work with most PPO and indemnity plans as an out-of-network provider. Our team is well-versed in insurance and will be happy to assist you in understanding your benefits and filing claims. Just remember, your plan is between you and the insurance company, so you'll cover anything they don't. We can always send a pre-treatment estimate first so there are fewer surprises.
Our In-House Plan: This is an excellent option if you don't have dental insurance. Pay one annual fee ($299 for you, $199 for kids under 14), and you'll receive your regular checkups, cleanings, and any necessary x-rays, plus 20% off all other treatments when paid at the time of service: no deductibles, no waiting, no hassle.
